If you are getting a hp designjet 510 error 05 10 or 05:10 Error Code --
You Must Replace Your Formatter Board.
A 05:10 error on the front panel of the printer indicates a formatter card failure.
This issue usually does not require on-site service, as the formatter card is a user-replaceable part. I even have a YouTube video showing how easy it is to replace.
What is the right part number?
HP revs up part numbers with new lots produced. On this model, there were three different lot numbers for the same part.

How does a defective core exchange work?
THIS ITEM REQUIRES THE RETURN OF YOUR DEFECTIVE PART.
USPS Pre-paid return shipping label will be emailed to you for the return of your defective part (US customers only).
When the package tracking number is registered on the USPS website, your new part will be shipped to you.
If you require immediate shipment, a deposit for $100 is required. Refunded upon return of the defective core.

Tom was a huge help. Our IT guy said that this machine was outdated and just to buy a new one which is around $4,500-$6,000. Tom was very helpful and worked with me to see if I would be able to put an HP-GL/2 into my HP Designjet 500 that didn’t have one installed. He sent it to me to see if it would work and it worked flawlessly allowing me to print from a couple of our computers that haven’t been able to send a print to our plotter for years. Tom is a super nice guy and easy to deal with. He explained everything to me with patience and went out of his way to accommodate our need to have the 510 GL/2 card sent to me UPS Next Day!
